Hi, we are Ayaka (female) and Shinya (male) in Sumida. We are living in an apartment. The name of the apartment is “Engawa(縁側)” which means a traditional Japanese terrace. It is one of the unique functions of the traditional Japanese architecture where the line between 'outside' an 'inside' is fuzzy and seamless. In addition, the place connects the 'inside' to the 'outside'. We hope that the place would connect the local people here and the people from outside including the tourists from overseas. There are many people with different jobs - entrepreneur, designer, photographer, editor and cool students . All of us are in our 20s-30s and we are all energetic! We welcome guests from all over the world! We will make delicious Japanese hot pot which is perfect for winter and serve Japanese beer. Join us and enjoy "Real" Japanese food.

I really enjoyed my time cooking and eating with Shinya, it was both delicious and interesting. Shinya is a very friendly person and I felt really welcome in his house. The house is very traditional and is in a lovely old area of Tokyo. We cooked together and I learnt how to use a Japanese knife, how to make Yukimi Nabe and I loved it. We talked a lot, about Japanese culture, cinema and history. Shinya is a fun and well read person. Thank you Shinya, it was great !

We have had a great time with Shinya! The food, including tofu, edamame, and roasted chicken, were so Japanese and tasted really good! Shinya is very friendly and good at talking! We talked about several issues about the Japanese society and culture! I learned a lot from him and thought communication is the best way to enhance mutual-trust : )

Shinya and his friends created one of our most memorable experiences of our three week trip in Japan. The hot pot was delicious, and we had fun shopping for ingredients before making dinner. But best of all was the chance to converse with so many interesting people about our different countries and cultures. Luckily for us, everyone spoke quite good English. Shinya is warm hearted, exuberant, and a delight to visit. We highly recommend Kitch Hike with Shinya!

With my wife and my two kids we had a great time with Shinya and his friends. They showed us how to cook Tako balls (Takoyaki) and they gave us a wonderful taste of the Japanese food. They are all nice people and it has been a great opportunity for us to meet and to exchange with them.

My friend and I were having so much fun with Shinya and his friends. We got the chance to go for local grocery shopping and involved in the dinner preparation too. This is great session in exchanging thoughts and understanding each other's culture. Not to mention, we love the udon dish which is really new to us, and also the childhood DIY snacks!

I am glad to know in Shinya's philosophy where world peace is involving where people from different part of the world can understand and accommodating each other.

Shinya and his friends were the greatest! We went to the grocery store together, made homemade takoyaki, laughed a lot and had a wonderful evening. Shinya even helped us find tickets to the sold-out Giants vs Tigers baseball game we wanted to attend. The food was delicious! The company was wonderful! And I am so happy we decided to spend an evening in Shinya's home during our short stay in Tokyo.
